You Cannot Call for Unity AND Blame the Left at the Same Time

Republicans want to have it both ways here, I hope it won’t work

Reports are out that when former President Donald J. Trump takes the stage to accept his party’s nomination this week in Milwaukee, he will give a speech calling for unity among Americans. As much as I would love for that to be his message, I cannot help but be skeptical. The man who claims he will be “your retribution” if reelected and who has given the most divisive speeches of at least my lifetime, doesn’t seem capable of trying to bring anyone together.

Since the attempted assassination attempt on Saturday, politicians on both sides of the aisle have called for a reduction in the political temperature. Everyone has condemned the violent act. That’s all well and good but while they denounce the violence against Trump, they use their platform to blame President Joe Biden and the Democrats. How is that helpful? How does that inspire unity? Well, we want unity but those awful liberals are to blame!

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) denounced the violence but also said:
