Wow. I am starting on this journey to help my mother. She had a fall and was in the hospital for a few days and after YEARS of begging people (esp. her medical providers) that she has memory issues, they finally saw it.

On one hand, her doctor told me she was ok and on the other, I knew she wasn't. People I knew who talked to her knew she wasn't. People would tell me all the time, you have to do something.

What could I do? Legally, nothing. She kept telling me she would sign a form so I could talk to her doctors and she never did it.

Thank you for this piece. It has given me a lot to think about and some actions I am going to take.
