Why I spend time in MAGA friendly places

I spend time in groups on Next Door (and elsewhere) for a reason.

I am a liberal Democrat. I am sure I am to the left of much of the nation. Most of the people I know and interact with personally are also liberal Democrats. I believe the government exists to do things for all of us collectively that we cannot do on our own. This includes building roads, police & military, the FDA (despite its current issues), FAA, etc. I also believe that includes providing healthcare.

Before people reading this start thinking that makes me a communist, I think the government should take care of healthcare so American businesses don’t have to. Can you imagine how much more competitive our companies would be if they didn’t have to compete against companies in countries that don’t have that added financial burden?

I also support policy that moves us away from our dependency on fossil fuels.

Now, I think Trumpers have been conned by an exceptional con man. Talk about 1984-type stuff. Good is bad. War is peace. Less is more. They’ve gone through the looking glass and I don’t know how to get them back.
