Since President Joe Biden’s cringe-worthy appearance at the debate last week, people from all over asking him to step aside. Make no mistake, to do so would be akin to handing over the keys to the White House directly to Donald J. Trump.

Why is that? In addition to having a great record to run on that no other candidate (save Vice President Kamala Harris) has, no one else has the money or ballot access. In short, no one else can get elected. Stephanie Jones, a Democratic inside if ever there was one, explains the ballot access issue here. From that piece:

The pundits keep conveniently failing to mention another critical sticking point, either because they don’t understand how politics and elections actually work or they know but assume you don’t. But I’m going to tell you, so now you’ll know something they’re not telling you:

In fact, it is objectively impossible to replace Biden at this point and have any hope of winning the general election, regardless how young and sparkly and exciting his replacement is for at least one simple reason: Ballot Access.
