And just like that, Margaret Atwood became a profit

This is not the piece I wanted to write

I have been writing about abortion for a very long time. One of my main arguments has been that because the procedure was so hard to access for so many women, maybe overturning Roe v. Wade wasn’t even necessary. You can read my pieces here and here. (Those pieces were both written about a decade ago and they still get hits every week)

When I first read that Roe had been overturned I wasn’t surprised. Senator Collins may be the only person in America who believed Brett Kavanaugh when he said he would not rule against Roe. As Maya Angelou said, “when someone tells you who they are, believe them.” Donald Trump promised to put people on the Supreme Court who would overturn Roe and that’s exactly what he did. This is why elections matter. It’s impossible for me to get mad at a politician who says they will do something during their campaign and then they follow through. That’s what candidates & electeds are supposed to do.

Step 1: Register to vote

November is right around the corner and if we want to restore the rights of women to control their own bodies, we need to start at the ballot box. Go here if you need more information about registering to vote.

Step 2: Check out EMILY’s List
