NO! Following the Constitution is NOT “Anti-Democratic”

The irony of people who claim to love the Constitution now claiming following it is undemocratic is not lost on me

In the wake of the Colorado State Supreme Court’s decision to remove former President Donald Trump from their primary ballot, Trumpers are falling all over themselves to declare it is “Undemocratic!” They say they “don’t want the courts taking away voter rights!” Yeah, ok.

The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified and enacted in 1868, just after the Civil War. I place that emphasis on the after because I keep reading memes, “Yeah, this is like when the Democrats kicked Lincoln off the ballot in the South.”

That’s not what happened but when has a fact ever changed a Maga nut’s mind? (I am done being polite to idiots who think Trump is a patriot. Fuck you, Maga Fucktards, you are killing America and I’ll be damned if I will cow-tow to your bullshit).

A look at the 14th Amendment

After the Civil War, this amendment dealt with issues of citizenship for the now-freed Americans:

Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States…
