McCarthy Will Be Back, With Some Help From His Democratic Friends

The other day, I wrote that it was ridiculous to expect the Democrats to want to help a man who had done nothing to engender trust among Democrats or even be marginally decent but now I think something has to be afoot. When other speakers (Paul Ryan, John Boehne — how I miss Boehner) stepped down from the leadership role, they also stepped away from Congress.
Despite some reports that Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-Ca) would head back to the Golden State, he has said not only is he not resigning but he plans to run again when his term is up.
Methinks there is more to this than we are getting from the outside. When he had to keep the government open, Democrats passed the continuing resolution. I think they are going to step in again to restore some semblance of order.

Moreover, I think a plan is underway plan. I think McCarthy could not have gone to them last week politically but a current Speaker and a former Speaker are in different positions in every way. He can do things now that he couldn’t last week.
