King James’ Silence on the NBA’s Horrible Human Rights Record Is Deafening
While the league champions civil rights and liberties at home, it puts profits before principle overseas
Like many sports fans, I love LeBron James. Not only is he one of the best players ever but his son, Bronny, now also plays for the Lakers. How cool is that? And for reasons that are even inexplicable to me, I love that he is from Akron, Ohio. He also seems like an all around good guy.
Yesterday, James put out a scathing video about the racism of former President Donald Trump’s campaign. More importantly, ths video highlights the fact that one of America’s true throughlines is racism. It neither started nor will end with Trump but reelecting this cruel and hatred filled person will set us back decades.
While I appreciate this powerful video and the steps the National Basketball Association (NBA) takes in the United States to encourage inclusivity, voter turnout, and equality, the position it takes internationally is quite different…
