I kind of think all racism stems from your #1. White people want to keep white supremacy going. Even people I know who aren't overt racists, say nothing about racism because the status quo works for them.

When I was living in Gainesville, Florida, there was a protest about a Confederate statue downtown. People had signs printed up that said, "Confederate lives matter." I took some pics of some sorority with the signs. Because I am white, they assumed I was on their side and were more than happy to pose. It was sickening.

What they didn't know is I am not a racist (at least I hope I am not, everyone I know who makes such pronouncements is so I hope that's not me) and do stand-up comedy and I took their photo to make fun of their ignorance.
