Donald Trump has done the impossible

More than once, Trump has made me do things I never thought I would

Recently, I have been spending some time over at NextDoor (aka the snarkiest place on earth). Specifically, I have been reading messages in a political group that is mostly MAGA people. Just now, I found myself defending Mitch McConnell (I posted that if people are happy with Roe being overturned, they really need to give #MoscowMitch some props. He is the reason Trump had so many court vacancies to fill. Their answer to that is “He’s a RINO.”).

This is not the first time, Donald Trump has made me see things differently. For instance:

1. Mike Pence is a hero. Who saw that coming? Not me! On January 6, 2021, he not only refused to give in to pressure that he ignore the will of the people, but he also refused to be evacuated so the vote certification could proceed.
2. Liz Cheney is a paragon of integrity. Liz Cheney, daughter of uber-conservative former Vice President Dick Cheney, used to get on my last nerve. I agree with her on very little BUT when push came to shove, she put the Constitution ahead of her own career. Trumpers call her a RINO (to them, anyone who disagrees with Trump on anything, is a RINO). I call her a hero.
3. Mitch McConnell is a Republican. Is that a radical thought? Not really but while the man really responsible for the recent Roe reversal is McConnell, many people who celebrate that decision do not credit him. Never…
