And now for something completely different…
Gonna move into the city, gonna eat a lot of peaches
Later today, I have family coming for a visit. We have been planning this trip since I moved back to Long Island in late 2019. I am so hoping their flight is uneventful and on time.
The house I am living in was built by my grandparents on my mom’s side of the family. John and Judy Clarke were originally from Minnesota (though I think my grandmother was actually from Kentucky and had been born in Geary Indiana, suddenly I am not sure I know what I am talking about) but after they married they lived in Baton Rouge, maybe in upstate New York, Washington, DC and finally Stony Brook, New York. Well, it was where John died, Judy retired to Minneapolis because when most people pick a retirement place, they go colder.
My mother and her brother Tom were in college when this house was built but Roger, my uncle was still in high school. I think his room was the one I used when I moved out of my dad’s place when I was in high school. He met his future wife, Sandy, in high school. They had my cousin Melanie.
Later today, Roger, Sandy, Melanie, Melanie's husband Greg, and their son, John, are coming for a visit. This is the first group of people who is visiting since I moved back and I am a little nervous.
